Suze Orman - "NOT A FAN CLUB"

Did anyone watch today’s Oprah episode? Today Suze Orman was the invited financial guest expert with Nadya Suleman, a.k.a. “Octomom”. I’m not alone in thinking this was a horrible episode for the Oprah show, particularly in the final season when you are trying to go out on a high note.
In my opinion, Suze Orman led and controlled too much of this interview. I’m not a fan of Suze Orman. She did make some valid points in today, but she essentially attacked Nadya the entire time, cutting her off, belittling her, and practically screaming at her. It was quite the disgusting sight. The ironic part is she claimed the reason she did this show was to get people to stop judging Nadya, when the whole time she was judging her, her life and her previous choices. Such a crock.
The worst part of the interview for me personally, was when Suze hounded Nadya with the inappropriate and moot question asking her ‘if she knew then what she knows now, would she have chosen not to have any more kids.’  It was apparent that Nadya didn’t want to answer the question, but she kept hounding her to answer while Oprah just sat there and let it happen. As a mother, I felt this was a horrible question to ask, knowing that one day these kids are going to watch this episode and hear the hurtful answer. Honestly, what difference does that question make?  She has the kids now. There was too much talk on the past and not enough focus on what to do going forward.  This episode could have benefited by having a qualified psychologist or psychiatrist who could provide some encouraging suggestions and support to Nadya, as opposed to critical demands and scolding.
Today’s episode felt like something that should have been on a slimier talk show, not the Oprah Winfrey show.

The Black Keys

Are you into Blues Rock?  Check out this amazing under-rated group, the Black Keys. You might have seen them recently on Saturday Night Live. Their tracks are featured in numerous movies and commercials as well. My favourite up and coming artist, Casey James, has also covered their “I Got Mine” on his summer tour with AI.
All their albums are low priced and well worth the buy - all of them!  Their most recent album was recognized as one of the recent best in Rolling Stone magazine.

The Nate Berkus Show

Strange and confusing day. The hubby and I are both off work as the stat holiday landed on the weekend and today (Monday) is off in lieu of that. Luckily I spoke with some of my kids’ classmates parents yesterday who informed me school was in fact back on today from the holidays.
So like many other parents, today we find ourselves enjoying a day home without the kids. It’s given me the opportunity to check out The Nate Berkus Show. I have to say that it is far better than I would have expected. Perhaps it’s the fact that I have a natural interest in interior design.  The show is based on interior design, but coupled with humour, guest appearances and games. I just watched Jamie Oliver make a scrumptious simple meal which has totally inspired me to get cooking once again.
In Toronto, it airs on CityTV at 10 am. Check here for more details: www.thenateshow.com
